Inheriting her late grandmother’s wisdom who had always used natural products to take care of her hair, Dr. HC Martha Tilaar, one of the founder of the company (1977), began her career in the beauty industry by having her education at the Bloomington Academy of Beauty Culture in the U.S. She is one of the licensed beauticians of the Indiana State and was popular among the professors’ wives of the Indiana University Bloomington in the 1966 era.
Before returning back to Indonesia in 1969, a mentor said, “If you return back to Indonesia and set up a beauty salon, name it Martha Salon.” Martha Tilaar Saloon has now become Martha Tilaar Salon Day Spa with 61 branch offices throughout Indonesia and Asia.
PT Martina Berto became a publicly held company in 2010 and now has a subsidiary company PT Cedefindo.
